A Taste of South India in Amersham

I wasn’t expecting to find such authentic South Indian cooking tucked away in Amersham, but this place completely won me over. The Veg Thalai are the standout. The sambar and chutneys that come alongside with Ghee Pongal are clearly made fresh, not the watered-down versions you sometimes get.

What really stood out was the service: warm, attentive, and happy to explain dishes for anyone less familiar with South Indian cuisine. The place has a relaxed, unpretentious vibe, and portions are generous for the price.

If you’re craving proper South Indian food without heading into London, this is well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

I recently visited VEG CHENNAI SRILALITHA in Amersham and had an excellent experience. The food was absolutely delicious and truly authentic South Indian cuisine. What really stood out was the quality of the food and the attention to detail in every dish. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were friendly, courteous, and attentive throughout our visit. It’s refreshing to find a place that consistently delivers authentic vegetarian South Indian food with such high standards. Must try are South India Thali and Ghee pongal

Really need to change the white plastic tray. I would also advise using the bain-marie for sambhar and rasam. Taste and quality of dosas is good.

Lovely place. The food was absolutely delicious, big portions and excellent value for money. Veggie with lots of vegan items on the menu. The spicy broccoli was exceptional. Very friendly and polite staff. We will definitely come back if we are in the area

Food used to be good but is on a downhill track. Service is very bad, no smile when greeting and looked disinterested. Zero check backs after serving to see if everything is good as ordered, had to constantly raise hands multiple times to gain attention for just water & ofcourse this wouldn’t happen if the two servers last Saturday bothered checking instead of speaking to themselves and on the phones! The starters were out late but the mains started arriving even before the starters were finished and no cutlery / dishes were cleared during the entire time making it a messy scene. Attached picture - they clearly saw the messy table but chose to gossip than work. Probably need training on how to hold glasses before placing them on the table,most customers wouldnt like fingers put inside the glasses to pull them from the stack.

Really nice south Indian food! Really enjoyed our visit with a wide range of dosas that all tasted great!

Pure vegetarian restaurant so suitable for most. Service was also fairly quick and plenty of seating available.

We'd happy go again!
